About
How this is put together
A directory is only worth having if its facts hold up. Here is exactly what we list, what we leave out, and why.
What’s in
56 distilleries with a still house at a real address in Scotland, and the gins they make there. That is the whole entry test. Nothing has paid to be listed and nothing can.
What’s deliberately out
Brands distilled elsewhere under contract. A great deal of “Scottish” gin is made to order by a third party, sometimes in England, sometimes further. That is a perfectly respectable trade and we are not making a judgement about it — but we cannot verify who distils what for whom, and publishing a wrong claim about somebody’s business is worse than publishing nothing. There is no legal definition of Scottish gin the way there is for Scotch whisky, so the label is not evidence either.
Star ratings and review scores. We haven’t run a tasting panel. A score would be a number we made up. If ratings ever appear here they will say who tasted the gin and when.
Prices and a shop. We don’t sell gin, take commission, or carry affiliate links. A price would be stale the week after we published it, and the only honest answer to “where do I buy it” is the distillery’s own shop or a good independent bottle shop.
Outbound links we can’t verify. Every website link on this site was fetched and checked on 17 September 2026. Several of the addresses we expected to work had lapsed — two of them now point at unrelated commercial sites — so those distilleries are listed without a link rather than with a bad one.

Something wrong? Tell us.
We’d far rather know. If you run one of these distilleries and we have your place, your gins or your address wrong — or you aren’t listed and you should be — use the form. It goes straight to a person.
There is nothing to pay and nothing to sign. Being listed is free, being removed is free, and neither changes anything about how we write about you.
